Lake Meade is one of the few places in the world where you can explore a lake and a desert in one day! Known for it’s water sports such as fishing, boating, water skiing, and swimming, Lake Meade boasts a marina and all the amenities one could possibly want. While you’re there, check out the natural caves and rock formations that have inspired artists and photographers for years!

For those who want something a little more rugged, check out Snow Canyon State Park. This striking canyon is full of Red Navajo Sandstone and black lava rock, making it a very unique place to camp. It boasts over 10 different trails for hiking and mountain biking, from the short and easy to the longest and toughest variety.

The hardcore nature lovers will appreciate the rugged beauty of Glen Canyon National Recreation Area. Leave the kids at one of the marinas as you trek through miles of desert, go off-road on your ATV, or climb the canyon walls. Be careful though; this area gets less than 6.45 inches of rain annually, and true to desert form will parch you during the day and leave you freezing in your sleeping bag at night.
