Here’s a quick run down. Two way radios – Cobra or Motorola can be found on sale for about $35 for 2 radios with the charger, a pretty good set of binoculars can be found at sporting goods stores like Big 5 or Sports Authority for about $20, you can find some board games like chess, checkers or card games like Uno or standard playing cards for under $20, check out Blockbuster pre-viewed movies that are often on sale for $5 each, check Costco or Sam’s Club for a “knock-off” rabbit ear style winer opener (the one with the 2 handles that plunges the corkscrew in and pulls out cork with ease), check Walmart or Target for the $99 Playstation that comes with a game or two (guests can bring other discs), add a play pen or porta crib for those that are traveling with a little one, and lastly build a small library of paper backs (free – some good ones from home that are just collecting dust).

These little items can help to make a vacationers time at your home a bit more enjoyable. These are items that some may not use at home on a daily basis, however, they are kind of “neat” to have.

For example, the walkie talkies will allow Dad to go to the community pool and stay in contact with his family up at the condo or allow the family to keep in touch while they hike the canyon, walk the beach or go to the theme parks. Binoculars allow for visitors to take a closer look at the wildlife, mountains and stars. A porta crib will help little ones to be up off of the floor when they sleep, an inexpensive game like Scrabble or Uno can bring a family around the table for the first time in a long while, and your new library may encourage your visitor to kick back and read a good book?

I am sure you have some inexpensive items that your guests really appreciate. Please feel free to comment on those that you think will help us all add value to our vacation renters!
