Fly Fishing Roaring River State Park, MO

Anglers ready their rods and reels and listen intently for the 6 a.m. sounding alarm. When the siren sounds you will find young and old eager to catch the first lunker of the season. March 1, 2008 marks opening day for trout fishing at Roaring River State Park near Cassville, MO.

Roaring River State Park is located 7 miles south of Cassville, Missouri on Highway 112 and covers 3,358 acres. Roaring River Spring emerges from the base of a shady limestone bluff and produces an average of over 20,000,000 gallons of water each day. The two and one-half mile spring branch is separated into three fishing zones.

With its narrow valley, rugged, mountain like terrain and deep blue spring, Roaring River State Park is beautiful. While Roaring River is known for its premier trout fishing there is plenty to keep the whole family entertained. You can take a tour of the trout hatchery and feed the fish. At the mouth of the Roaring River spring you can view an area that is off limits to fisherman and view some incredible trophy size trout. Many fisherman are just hoping that one finds it’s way over the falls into the fishing zone.

There are seven trails to explore the natural wonders of the park. You can ride your bike or hike on many of these trails. The Ozark Chinquapin Nature Center offers exhibits about the area and wildlife and park naturalists present programs on the park’s natural history.

Roaring River State Park is a great launch pad to nearby fun and activities. Eureka Springs, Arkansas is about 20 miles away, Branson, MO and Silver Dollar City are only 50 miles drive, 20 miles to the Civil War battefields at Pea Ridge National Military Park and more incredible fishing on Table Rock Lake and The Lake of the Ozarks.
