Fish, Golf and Ski the White Mountains of Northern Arizona.  Our family recently had the privilege of visiting the area of Show Low and Pinetop Arizona.  The golf courses at Bison Golf and CC (formerly Show Low CC) and Torreon where absolutely fantastic.  Be sure to tee off early in the morning as the weather can ROLL in the afternoons - as we discovered with a magnificent lightning show and booming thunder!  The greens were in great shape and hitting shots surrounded by the cool breeze blowing through the pines was very peaceful.

If fishing is your gig - then you will find plenty!  Fly fishing in Greer and The Black River is really good.  For families looking for easy shore fishing try Fools Hollow Lake, Show Low Lake or drive a bit further to the Apache Indian reservation lakes between Hondah and Sunrise.  Fishing the reservation lakes do not require a state fishing license, just a reservation daily pass.  Most of the lakes in the White Mountains only allow for trolling motors or 15 HP or less motors for boaters.  Try to catch that “hold over” Rainbow Trout from last year or maybe a Walleye! 

If you are coming up during the winter you will find some of the best skiing, snow boarding and snow shoeing in Arizona.  Sunrise Park Resort offers great downhill skiing and snow boarding on it’s three mountains and 65 ski runs!  There is a separate snow boarding area, cross country ski trails and a special childrens’ “ski-wee” area.  It’s an easy drive to the “slopes” for visitors from all over the state including Tucson and Phoenix.
