Want to try something exotic? Something adventurous, but different from all other adventures you’ve tried before? Alaska is your destination. Tucked away in the north, it’s an amazing and different place to visit. It will be difficult to decide which exciting experience you will want to focus on, for there is such an array of spectacular things to do.

Ever afraid of walking into a bear? Be careful it might happen, only in Alaska! Have you ever tried to go bear watching? Visit the largest brown bears of Kodiak Island, Denali National Park’s blond grizzly’s, the polar bears of Alaska’s Arctic Coast or black bears, which can be found almost anywhere in Alaska. Alaska offers bus tours, flight seeing tours to see these bears. Or air taxis will carry you into watch brown bears catch salmon!

The perfect way to bond with nature is to camp in Alaska. Campgrounds are available to both tent and motor-home users. Campgrounds are found all over Alaska, lined along the highway and in the Tongass and Chugach national forests. Most campgrounds are equipped with shower and water and electrical hookups. For those who really want to rough it, they don’t have to wander far to find nothing but themselves and nature. Not into roughing it? No problem you can find vacation homes and lodges that are completely furnished with the finer things in life!

A destination so far up north cannot be complete without a mention of the aurora borealis, or the northern lights. The beautiful lights shoot and flash in shades of red, purple and green. Usually the displays take place further up north. Apparently the further up north you go, the brighter and more colorful the show is. Winter packages can be arranged in areas where there are higher chances of seeing the northern lights in Alaska. There are aurora forecasts, so if you are serious about catching a glimpse of this amazing phenomena, check ahead of time to increase your chances of seeing the magnificent aurora borealis.

Alaskan cruises are famous the world over and are a great way to see glaciers. Luxurious cruise liners pull in closely to spectacular pieces of blue ice! Or see the glaciers by small boats that just do daily sightseeing trips. Whether you choose a day trip, or a cruise package, this is the best way to see the glaciers. In addition, you can view the glaciers from the air. Small planes or helicopters will arrange for you to view the glaciers from above. If they land on the glaciers, you will be provided with proper gear and guides to ensure safe viewing. The last way to view glaciers is done without leaving land. Some glaciers can be seen from Alaska’s highways. In some cases you can even walk up to them and touch them!

Alaska is truly a place with so many exotic and exciting things to see. The wildlife is bustling with activity and the breathtaking sights are just too many to number! Whether you are standing in awe at the northern light show flashing before you eyes, or you are cruising through the ocean viewing the marvelous glaciers, or watching a bald eagle soar above, your experience in Alaska is guaranteed to be unforgettable.
