So what’s the point?  Here at Furnished Homes we aim to improve the vacation rental search process for travelers and help owner’s vacation rentals “stand-out” in that huge number of 57,200,000.

Ultimately the visitors to any given website will tell you if they find value in your website in 2 ways – they come back and they tell someone else about it.  Vacation rental directories serve owners by helping owners and managers find people who want to rent their properties.  They serve travelers by providing an easy way to connect with vacation rental owners and managers.

Owners now have many options on the internet to assist them in their vacation rental marketing efforts. Many owners develop their own website, they can join vacation rental forums, vacation rental communities, post pictures to Flickr, Picasa, post on Craigslist and a whole host of other options.  Make an effort to advertise and put your information on as many free sites as possible.

So instead of developing another standard listing directory we took what we know as vacation rental owners and decided that Google Maps was a fantastic tool to show people “where” and “nearby”.  People want to see where they are going to be.  Some sites may let you click on a listing for a vacation home and then click to see a map. 

We want travelers to be able to start with the map, find your vacation rental on the map (not necessarily the exact location – but you can if you want) and then take it a step further by offering the traveler the opportunity to see your vacation rental and all the great things that are nearby.  Like what?  Like where’s the closest Starbucks Coffee, where’s the closest Live Entertainment, Golf Course, Library, Bowling Alley, Steak House, Hospital, University - you name it and we’ll show it to them as it relates to your vacation rental!  Travelers may want to be near a public pool or rent a vacation home not more than 20 minutes from a National Park.
