2009 Vacation Rental Advertising – Get a Head Start

November 21st, 2008 · No Comments

Don’t wait until Christmas Eve to plan your vacation rental advertising.  Plan to map out your vacation rental advertising, update your images, dial in your rental rates and canvas the internet with your listings in the few weeks before the holidays.

You will breathe easier knowing that you can relax and enjoy time with family and friends because your vacation rental management is planned and ready to implement.  Too many times we wait until the last minute and do a mediocre job of advertising and presenting our vacation rental homes.  Many of us need to “sow” more advertising than ever before because of the housing downturn worldwide.  Suddenly owners have competitors coming out of the wood work to rent homes that they can’t sell.

It’s a good idea to be listed on top rental websites, however, do not overlook some of the tertiary or free listings vacation home sites that are up and coming.  Look for sites that will let you link back to your personal website – see our past blog on the importance of having a personal vacation rental website to promote your furnished rental.  Try your hand at a YouTube video too!  Remember that most newer digital cameras have a video function that allows for 5 to 20 minutes of video recording.  It’s easy to up your vacation home advertising with a simple video posted to YouTube – We’ll show you how to do it too!  See the YouTube blog entry at GoFurnished.com.

Speaking of blogs- you may want to consider a blog dedicated to information specifically about your vacation rental.  You can get personal in your blog and even invite others to comment on your postings.  Fresh, consistent and relevant “content” is key to your blogging success.  See our Blog entry to start your own vacation rental blog or get more ideas here.

Special GoFurnished.com Tip’o the day!  Most of the time vacationers and travelers are searching for specific cities or regions to find vacation homes.  So be on the lookout for rental websites that cater to specific cities or regions.  For example, a site that is specific for Breckenridge Colorado may search better in Google and other search engines than a general search such as “vacation rentals”.

For example, here at Furnished Homes we own many domains that are region or city specific like VacationRentalsPinetop.com, VacationRentalsSedona.com, VacationRentalsPhoenix.com, VacationRentalsBreckenridge.comand many more.  So jump on the Furnishedhomes.com band wagon and chances are you will see your listing on our city vacation rental sites too.  Food for thought!

Get out there and advertise your vacation rentals and Happy Holidays from all of us here at Furnishedhomes.com – The Place to Find Furnished Rentals.
